Types of soil properties
Chemical
Chemical soil properties refer to the characteristics of soil that relate to its chemical composition and reactions. These include soil pH, nutrient content (such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium), cation exchange capacity (CEC), base saturation, and the presence of contaminants or pollutants.
Physical
Physical soil properties describe the structural aspects of soil. These include soil texture (proportion of sand, silt, and clay), bulk density, and corse fragments among others.
Biological
Biological soil properties pertain to the living organisms within the soil and their interactions. This includes the abundance and diversity of soil microbes, earthworms, insects, and other fauna.
Derived
Derived soil properties are characteristics obtained from primary physical, chemical, and biological properties through analysis, modeling, or estimation. These include indexes, indicators, stocks and classifications.
